The Church of Scientology would like to clear up a few things.
Its public affairs people have issued a media guide to "address a number of misunderstandings about the religion" founded by late science fiction novelist L. Ron Hubbard.

Topics covered include "purported rumours" such as belief in aliens.
"Scientology has no religious belief that we are descended from aliens or have aliens living inside us," it says.
However, the church does believe in "suppressive persons" - "who seek to suppress other people in their vicinity . . . and oppose anything calculated to make human beings more powerful or more intelligent".
Sadly, there is no explanation for Tom Cruise.
