An arrest warrant has been issued for fugitive cult leader Rocco Leo.
He was due to attend an Adelaide court today on an assault charge.
Leo allegedly led doomsday cult Agape Ministries which faced a series of police raids last year.
A magistrate ordered that Leo attend the hearing and issued a warrant for his arrest when he did not show up.
His lawyer said he no longer wanted to act for Leo as he now felt compromised.
Lesley Baligod was at the court hearing and said she had not seen her son since he became involved in the Agape cult.
She said she had hoped to see Leo face court.
"It could be that Rocco Leo has been successful in getting to some island, I mean for a while we thought that that was all lies but now we just don't know what to believe," she said.
